Study in Norway
The college will help you with your practical arrangements for the study in Oslo:
STUDENT HOUSING: The college will help you find a relatively cheap place to live, in private rooms or through the student organization, OAS (Oslo og Akershus Studentsamskibnad). A membership in OAS also gives you reduced prices on local transport, etc.This office helps you with any questions concerning your life as a student in Norway; like health, jobs and study counselling. www.OAS.no
VISA: The college will help you through your application for visa. You apply through Norwegian Directorate of Immigration, UDI.
Documentation of means: Please note that you temporarily need to have approx. 12 795 euro, 18 135 US. Dollars in a Norwegian account, or other documentation of means of subsistence and a financing plan, in order to get a student visa. If you need help opening a Norwegian account to put your money in, we can help you with this. When you have a student visa, you automatically have a part-time work permit. As soon as this is in order, the amount can be transferred back. www.UDI.no
JOB OPPORTUNITIES: When you have your Norwegian visa for the first time, you automatically have a part-time work permit. As a student, you are allowed to work max. 20 hours per week. The college will do its best to assist you in getting a part-time job.
SCHOLARSHIPS: The college will help you apply for possible scholarships. After 3 years full-time studies in Norway, you can get a scholarship from the government, Statens Lånekasse. Norwegian students can apply for loan and scholarship from Statens Lånekasse.
Quota Student: If you are accepted as a Quota Student in Norway, this gives you the right to a student loan and scholarship every year of your study in Norway, as long as you can confirm your progression. There are a limited number of quota students at any one time in a given institution. www.lanekassen.no
